Preparation or troubleshooting

Start with the service you already use.

The checklist is for preparation before departure. If you are already in Canada and see an error, open the diagnostic guide. You can go straight to Residential US IP plans from either route.

What changes at the border?

An active US subscription is not a roaming pass.

A familiar app or brand in Canada can represent different programming and access rights. Start with these official distinctions, then use the checklist for your own account.

The connection part of your trip

Prepare a Residential US IP before you leave.

A Residential US IP provides an address associated with a US home-broadband connection. Choose plans for your service above, receive your USip access details, and follow the device instructions. Test your actual video while you still have time to resolve setup questions.

The connection does not add a streaming subscription, change app-store country, supply missing channel rights or remove Home-network requirements. Playback still depends on the service and your setup.

From home to your Canadian network

Keep one playback test you can repeat.

  1. Before leaving: open one chosen episode, live channel or recording on the device you are taking. Save your service checklist and confirm account-recovery access.
  2. On arrival: complete the hotel or rental Wi-Fi sign-in, apply your prepared connection and replay the same item. A hotspot and hotel Wi-Fi are different networks; recheck after switching.
  3. For a live event: confirm the start time for your Canadian city, the channel and the intended player. A successful on-demand test does not establish live-event access.

Pack a personal screen as a backup to an unfamiliar television. Keep eligible offline files ready for the journey and check their expiry; cloud DVR and live channels need internet.
