Does US Hulu work in Canada?
The separate US Hulu service is not officially available in Canada. Disney+ Canada includes Hulu-branded shows and movies, but that does not give your account the same access as a US Hulu subscription. US Hulu or Hulu on Disney+ Canada?
Check the service named on your receipt and the plan shown in your account. The same Hulu branding can appear in different viewing situations:

Start with the message, not the logo
- “Subscribe”, “activate” or a payment message: follow the account check.
- A country, VPN or anonymous-proxy warning: go to the US connection check.
- A missing show or season: check the Canadian catalogue and profile.
- A Live TV Home warning: use the Home-network branch.
- Buffering or a player error without those messages: compare another title and follow the app and browser checks.

The login works, but the subscription is missing
Signing in with MyDisney identifies your account; it does not by itself establish that the account has Hulu access. Check these three details before changing your connection:
- The plan: does your account show an active US Hulu subscription or a bundle that includes it?
- The account: are you using the email associated with that subscription, rather than another Disney login?
- The activation and biller: if the offer requires activation, complete the provider’s official process. Check a failed payment or missing subscription with the company billing you.
Disney’s Hulu login and activation guidance explains the account step. A Residential US IP does not activate an unpaid plan or add Hulu to a Canadian subscription. Once the account is correct, use any country or VPN message to check the connection.
US Hulu reports a location or VPN error
If you are trying to use US Hulu from Canada, the connection Hulu sees is a relevant next check. A VPN setting labelled “United States” does not show whether Hulu traffic uses that route or whether its exit address is residential. See Hulu’s proxy-error guidance.
- Record the exact error. Keep the same Hulu account, title and playback device for the comparison.
- Compare the visible IPv4. Open What is my IP?, select Save as before, connect, then select Check again.
- Reopen Hulu and retry that video. Record whether it plays or shows a different error.

Get a Residential US IP for Hulu
An IP checker tests its own request, so a US result does not prove the route of every Hulu request or successful playback. Your ordinary Canadian connection is outside US Hulu’s supported territory; switching off the VPN is not a reliable working baseline here. A show is missing from Disney+ Canada
Search for the exact title and season in the Canadian catalogue. Check the profile’s content rating and Junior Mode, then confirm whether the title is actually offered locally. A US trailer or Hulu logo is not evidence of Canadian availability. Disney+ explains missing-content checks.

Live TV and Home-network messages need a different check
Keep a Home warning separate from an ordinary location or proxy error. Hulu + Live TV has designated Home-network and device requirements; a purchased Residential US IP is not automatically the Home registered on your account. Follow Hulu’s account, territory and Home requirements for your plan.
Record whether the issue affects live channels only or also on-demand videos. The Canadian Disney+ Hulu collection is not a US Hulu + Live TV package. A change of public IP does not add a missing channel entitlement.
Use the device that actually plays the video
If your laptop passes an IP check but your TV still fails, check the TV’s connection and supported app. The laptop result does not test the television. For a missing app, check the device model and official store region; a US IP alone does not change your app-store account country.
