Traveling to Mexico?
Get Sling TV ready
before you leave.
Start with the channel or game you want to watch. Check the package, live schedule and travel device before you rely on the hotel’s Wi-Fi.
Does Sling TV travel with you to Mexico?
Mexico is outside Sling TV’s official service area. Sling says that watching, subscribing and changing an account require being in the 50 United States or Puerto Rico. The “International” name in Sling’s package menu is not a promise of international roaming.
Your Sling TV travel checklist
Use the same channel and viewing device for your checks. A working app menu is not a working live stream.
Prepare your viewing device
Update the iPhone or iPad you will take and confirm Sling supports it. Test on that screen rather than assuming a hotel television will have the app or let you change its network settings.
Check supported devices →Open the app or website
Install or update Sling, open the guide and find the exact channel you want. If you plan to use recordings, open the DVR area too; finding a live channel and finding a recording are separate checks.
Changing your IP does not change your app-store country or install a missing app. Check app availability before departure.
Confirm your package and channel
Sign in before departure and check which package or add-on contains your channel. Confirm the event listing in that channel’s schedule. Keep access to your account email in case Sling asks you to sign in again.
Sling account details and USip connection credentials are separate. A different IP address does not add a channel or an add-on to your Sling subscription.
Prepare your US connection
Use your USip profile and welcome-email instructions on this device. Check the connection with the IP tool, then test Sling TV playback separately.
A residential US IP is a connection option, not a playback guarantee. Service rules, your account and the chosen content still matter.
Check live TV and DVR separately
Play your intended live channel now. If you plan to watch a recording, play that recording separately. For a future game, save the channel, date and start time; a successful stream today does not confirm future event rights.
Sling describes its DVR as cloud storage. Plan for internet access rather than treating a DVR entry as a video downloaded to your phone for the flight.
Checks and connection choices are saved separately for each device in this browser. No account details are stored.
The right channel matters more than a working homepage.
A Sling menu that loads is only the start. Build your trip around the actual broadcast: which channel carries it, whether your package includes it, and when it begins where you will stay.
- Package: check the exact channel in your current lineup, including any add-on. Local-channel availability and event restrictions may differ from national cable channels.
- Schedule: convert the broadcast time for your destination city, not just “Mexico.” Recheck the time near travel, particularly around seasonal clock changes.
- Live, on demand or DVR: decide which you need and test that mode. A cloud recording is not an offline file; do not count it as your flight’s entertainment backup.
In Mexico: check the network, then the broadcast.
- Complete the Wi-Fi sign-in screen before connecting. Use your prepared personal device if the hotel television cannot run your setup.
- Apply your saved connection instructions. For Smart DNS, recheck network registration after changing networks and confirm that the accommodation allows its settings.
- Open the intended channel or recording. Compare any error with the channel, package and event listing; do not assume every failure is an IP problem.
