The quick answer
Outside the US? Check app availability and the playback connection as two separate steps. First confirm the app is available for your player and store account. If the installed app then needs a US connection, review Residential US IP access for that TV or streaming box. A US IP does not automatically change the app store, add device support or provide a streaming subscription.
Find your next checkWhich situation matches your TV?
Start with the situation on your actual TV or streaming box. Each route separates getting the app from connecting it for US viewing.
I am outside the US and the US streaming app is missing
Prepare both the app and the connection for US playback. A missing store listing does not tell you whether the video connection will work.
- Identify the player. Check the TV model and software, or the streaming box connected by HDMI. Use the platform checks below to confirm that the service offers an app for that device and market.
- Check the store or account country. Follow the platform’s official process if a correction is appropriate. A US IP does not change the store account automatically; an imported TV may also have sales-region limits.
- Choose the US connection for playback. Once you have a supported way to watch, choose a USip plan and follow the supplied device instructions. For Smart DNS on a TV or router, confirm access and supported services with USip Support before subscribing.
Still cannot find the app? Use Streaming Doctor for a missing TV app. Keep the service name and exact model ready.
I am outside the US: the app opens, but playback shows a country error
The app is installed; now check its viewing connection. A supported app and a successful sign-in do not establish that the video uses a US route.
- Choose one included episode or channel. Confirm the account and plan, then note the exact country or proxy message. A subscription prompt needs an account check.
- Connect the device that plays the video. Review Residential US IP plans and the setup for your TV, streaming box or router. Connecting a phone or laptop does not automatically connect the TV.
- Reopen the player and retry the same item. Keep the device, account and title fixed. For selective DNS routing, a browser IP check alone does not establish the streaming route.
If the error remains, open Streaming Doctor for a country error or US IP, but streaming is still blocked. A connection does not add a missing channel, subscription or Home eligibility.
The service works on my phone, but not on my TV
- Compare the same service, account and title. A free phone clip and a locked TV episode are different tests.
- Identify the TV’s route. Check whether the phone uses mobile data or its own VPN, while the TV uses the home router. If the TV app is absent, complete its model and store checks first.
- Set up the actual TV player. If US connectivity is the missing step, review Residential US IP setup for the supported TV or router, then retry the same episode.
Follow the phone-versus-TV comparison for the next check. Casting and AirPlay also need a supported receiver and method.
My TV does not support the app, or the old app has disappeared
- Check current service support. Confirm the model, software and current app name. An old tutorial may refer to a retired app.
- Choose a supported player. A compatible HDMI streaming box you already own may let you keep the television as a display. Verify the exact device and service before buying hardware.
- Then choose the connection. Once installation and sign-in are possible, review the US connection for that player if you need US viewing from abroad.
Find a supported way to watch. When that part is resolved, compare Residential US IP plans for your connection. Changing IP or DNS cannot add device compatibility or restore a discontinued app.
Something else? The whole store or several downloads fail · Only a show or channel is missing.
1. Identify the device that needs the app
If you use the television’s home screen, check that TV’s platform. If you switch to HDMI for a streaming stick or box, check the external player instead. If Fire TV plays the video on a Samsung screen, use the service’s Fire TV app.
Write down the full model number, software version and exact app name. Check the service’s current supported-device page for that model or generation. “Smart TV supported” is too broad: support may depend on model year, operating system and country.
2. Check your TV platform
Samsung Smart TV
Search the TV’s Apps area using the service’s current name. Match your model and software to the streaming provider’s list; Samsung directs owners to the app developer for model support. Update available TV software, then search again.
Samsung apps are released for specific model groups and service countries. If your model is supported but the app is absent, ask Samsung or the service to confirm availability for your TV’s market. A Smart Hub reset removes downloaded apps and signs you out, so reserve it for support-directed troubleshooting.
LG Smart TV
Find the model and software in TV Information; the menu location varies by webOS version. Use LG’s Content Store lookup to check the app against your model and region. LG notes that the TV’s purchase region can affect availability.
Compare those results with the TV’s Apps or Content Store. LG says the Services Country setting should match your actual location; the TV’s sales country can also limit available apps. For an imported TV, ask LG about the supported options for that exact model. Changing DNS does not add compatibility.
Apple TV hardware
Confirm that you mean the Apple TV box, rather than the Apple TV app on another television. Apple TV 4K and Apple TV HD have an App Store; Apple TV third generation does not. That older model cannot download new apps.
On supported hardware, check the app’s tvOS requirements and the Apple Account used for purchases. If its country is wrong following a move, read Apple’s country-change requirements first: account balance, subscriptions and payment details can affect the change.
Fire TV
Search from Fire TV’s Find menu or voice search, then open the app listing. Amazon’s download instructions cover the normal installation route. Check that the service supports your particular Fire TV model; a phone listing is insufficient.
Review the Amazon account’s country when availability looks wrong. Amazon explains that country changes affect content and some apps. Follow its guidance if you have moved, and check the consequences for existing purchases and rentals before changing anything.
Google TV, Android TV and other Smart TVs
On Google TV, use Search or the Apps tab; on Android TV, check Google Play. An Android phone app does not establish TV support. Google lists device compatibility, Play country, removal and parental controls among reasons an app may be missing. Changing Play country is a separate account process with location, payment and account requirements; a US connection alone does not complete it.
For Roku TV, VIDAA or another platform, identify the operating system as well as the TV brand. Compare its own store with the service’s device list. Keep any account or country correction within the platform’s official process.
3. Check whether the app still exists
If an app previously worked, check the provider’s current help center for a rename, replacement app, shutdown or end of support for older TVs. Follow its migration instructions for your subscription. A retired app and a country-restricted store listing need different solutions.
Before deleting an older installed app, confirm that you can download it again. If support has ended, a reset or connection change cannot bring it back.
4. Choose a supported way to watch
If the TV cannot run the app, check whether a streaming player you already own is supported. Before buying hardware, verify the exact model and service combination. The TV can remain the display while the supported HDMI player runs the app.
Use casting or AirPlay only when the service supports that method and receiver. A browser is an option only on a device and browser explicitly supported by the service; a built-in TV browser is not a universal substitute.
5. Check installation and playback separately
If the whole store fails, test the TV’s internet connection, restart the player, check available storage and install software updates. Record any download error for device support. Repeatedly changing the country will not explain a general store failure.
Once the app opens, sign in with an eligible account and try an included video. Follow account or Household verification when requested. For a country or proxy error, investigate the player’s connection. If your phone works, use our phone-versus-TV comparison guide.
Already have USip? Use your existing credentials and official Smart DNS setup guide for the supported TV or router. Verify that setup before considering another subscription. DNS settings do not install apps or change account eligibility.
Ready for the connection step?
Find a Residential US IP option for your TV setup.
Ready to watch through a US connection? Choose a Residential US IP plan for your supported player and follow the setup instructions sent with your access. For a TV or router using Smart DNS, confirm access and supported services with USip Support before subscribing.
After subscription, your service credentials and setup instructions arrive by email. Follow the official setup for your chosen method, then test playback on the actual player. Your streaming account and device requirements still apply; a US IP does not automatically change store availability.

Quick questions
Will a VPN make a missing app appear?
There is no general guarantee. Model support and store-account country must be checked separately from the internet connection.
Does a working phone app prove my TV is supported?
No. Check the service’s TV requirements. Mobile and TV versions can have different device support.
Should I reset the TV first?
First confirm that the app is supported and available. A reset can remove settings and sign-ins without fixing compatibility.
