The quick answer
Read the exact sign-in error before replacing your VPS. STARZ documents both VPN-related access failures and subscriptions that must be watched outside the standalone app. The fix for a provider-login mismatch is different from evaluating a new US connection. STARZ sign-in troubleshooting.
When the message is Forbidden, the tunnel is relevant
STARZ’s official explanation says a Forbidden message can appear when signing in through a VPN and recommends disconnecting it or using a network that is not VPN-managed. That makes the connection a meaningful variable to test; it is not a reason to keep resetting a working password. STARZ’s Forbidden-message guidance.
Where direct STARZ access is available to you, compare the same sign-in on your normal connection and through the VPS. Record whether the message changes. If access is unavailable because you are outside the service area, a failed direct attempt cannot establish whether the server is the only cause.
The help article describes the VPN condition; it does not publish a test proving that every rented US server is blocked or that a particular IP classification will work. Avoid treating a generic Forbidden response from another page as a complete diagnosis.
An Amazon or Roku bill does not identify the player by itself
Consider two people paying Amazon for STARZ. One bought the channel inside Prime Video; the other subscribed through the STARZ app on an Amazon device. Those purchase routes need different checks. STARZ says an Amazon Channels subscription is watched using Amazon’s video app and does not provide a standalone STARZ-app login. Amazon subscription sign-in help.
Roku has a similar distinction. STARZ’s help separates a premium subscription inside The Roku Channel from a subscription to the STARZ app on a Roku device, and explains how to identify them in the Roku account. Roku Channel versus STARZ app.
Open the receipt or subscription-management page before changing the server. If the package belongs inside another player, use that player first. A Residential US IP cannot turn a channel purchase into an entitlement the standalone app does not recognize.
Keep US STARZ separate from similarly branded overseas services
This guide concerns the US STARZ app and website. Its current terms specify the service area, an active subscription and compatible equipment. A program licensed to another broadcaster—or an old STARZPLAY or LIONSGATE+ search result—is not proof that the same credentials work on US STARZ. US STARZ access requirements.
Check the company on your receipt and the domain or app you were using when it worked. If your subscription came from a television package, choose the provider sign-in specified for that package rather than assuming you have a direct STARZ account.
This step matters particularly when the error says the email is unrecognized. Moving the network exit to another country does not create a missing account. Recover the correct viewing route before considering a different connection.
Keep the playback device local when testing a VPS
A server tunnel and a remote server desktop are different tools. With a tunnel, STARZ still runs on your usual device. With remote desktop, the player runs on the rented server and its video output is sent to you. A remote-browser failure introduces a separate compatibility question.
Start with a current supported app or browser on your own device. Test sign-in first, then an included episode. Do not count a homepage loading as proof that video works, and do not switch apps during the connection comparison.
A VPS with a dedicated address is still normally part of a hosting network. “Dedicated” does not mean “residential,” and installing WireGuard or OpenVPN does not change that distinction. Read how residential and datacenter IPs differ if a hosting plan uses those labels loosely.
What to do with the comparison result
Wrong login or player: fix the subscription route. The same player fails only through the VPS: the connection deserves further investigation. The same episode fails on all available connections: check the app, entitlement and service help before buying another server.
If a US connection is your goal and the VPS route is unsuitable, a managed Residential US IP is an alternative to evaluate. It changes the network option you are considering, not STARZ’s subscription or access rules. Residential addressing alone cannot guarantee that the service will accept the connection.

Questions about STARZ and VPS access
Does Forbidden mean my STARZ password is wrong?
Not necessarily. STARZ specifically associates that sign-in message with VPN use. Check the documented connection condition before repeatedly changing the password.
Can my Amazon STARZ channel login work in the STARZ app after an IP change?
An IP change does not transfer that entitlement. STARZ directs Amazon Channels subscribers to the Amazon video app.
Should I buy another dedicated VPS IP for STARZ?
First reproduce the problem with the correct account and player. A different dedicated hosting address is not automatically a residential address or a supported solution.
