How to Get a US Residential IP for Streaming

1. Choose your streaming service and device

Use the service and device picker to find the relevant setup. Choose the screen that will play the video, not just the laptop you use to order. A phone, TV app and router can require different instructions.

Identify the result you need: a US connection, a route to compare after a VPN error, or help with an app that will not play. A Residential US IP changes the connection; it does not supply a streaming subscription or resolve account verification.

2. Choose your plan and get the setup details

Confirm the US residential option, supported service and device, connection method and usage limits. Ask separately about address continuity or exclusive use if you need them; neither follows automatically from “residential.”

3. Save a baseline before connecting

Open What is my IP? in the browser you plan to test. Select Save as before to keep the public IPv4, estimated country and check time in that tab. Leave the tab open while you change the connection.

Also note the streaming title, device and exact error. Keep the account, player and playback quality unchanged between attempts. Check whether another VPN or proxy is active so you know which route you are comparing.

Have the supplied credentials and current device instructions ready. On a managed work device, use its approved connection arrangement. For travel preparation, use the US residential IP travel checklist.

4. Connect using your device instructions

For computers and phones, use the provider’s or software publisher’s download links. Follow the current guide to install OpenVPN Connect and add your USip profile. If the screens differ or credentials are rejected, contact USip Support.

For supported TVs and routers, the USip DNS instructions guide you through registering your home connection and setting DNS. DNS covers selected supported services; it does not route every app through a US IP. Devices must use that DNS setup for it to apply, so test the actual TV or player after configuring the router.

Once the setup is active, continue to verification. This guide follows public setup documentation; it is not a report of a personally tested connection.

5. Check IPv4, then test the stream

Return to the saved checker tab and select Check again. Compare the result, then open the actual player and start the same title. If the tab was closed, open a new check and record a fresh baseline before repeating the comparison.

The checker measures IPv4, not IPv6 or every app’s route. A laptop result does not verify a TV. With selective DNS, ordinary browsing may keep its usual IP; verify the supported service according to its setup instructions.

Location estimates have limits, and an ISP name alone does not prove residential classification. Judge the connection by the intended playback test alongside those clues.

If something still does not work

Connection sign-in fails: check the credentials supplied with your connection account, rather than your streaming password. Confirm the correct device guide and contact provider support if the credentials are rejected.

IPv4 is unchanged: first check whether your setup should route the checker through the new connection. For a VPN route that should change it, use the unchanged-IP checklist.

The result says US, but video is blocked: follow US IP, but streaming still blocked to check the player route, account, title and location requirements. A US address alone does not guarantee access.
