Fandango at Home VPN Not Working: What to Check

If you searched for Vudu VPN problems, the service is now called Fandango at Home. Begin by identifying whether a purchased movie will not play, a rental has no access, a linked-library title is missing, or your account will not sign in. Those problems require different evidence.

The quick answer

Use your existing Vudu account in Fandango at Home, check the affected title and transaction, then compare playback on another supported device. For a location message, confirm the service’s US availability rules. For a missing imported movie, inspect the connected Movies Anywhere account before buying it again.

A location message interrupts access

Fandango’s streaming policy limits the service to the United States and excludes some US territories. A movie appearing in your account does not, by itself, establish that playback is available from your present location.

Record the exact message and when it appears. If you are in a supported location and using a VPN, compare the same device and title on your ordinary connection. Treat any difference as information for support, not proof that another IP will resolve the account, rental or playback condition.

  • Keep the account and title unchanged during the comparison.
  • Distinguish a location notice from a sign-in failure or rental-expiration message.
  • If your normal connection also fails, report both attempts and your actual location.

A movie in your library will not play

The streaming policy requires compatible equipment and current software; availability and playback quality can depend on the device and connection. Check your app and system updates, then reopen the title before changing several settings at once.

Try a second item that you already have access to, then try the original movie on another supported device. Note whether the problem follows the title or stays with the first device. If playback stops at one exact point, preserve the timestamp and error; that is more useful to support than a general report that the service is down.

  • Confirm that you are opening the full entitled movie rather than its preview.
  • Record whether the app crashes, buffers, or displays a specific message.
  • Avoid renting another copy merely to repeat the same playback test.

A purchase, rental or imported movie is missing

Find the receipt first: identify the retailer, account, exact edition and whether it was a purchase or rental. Fandango’s policy distinguishes purchases from time-limited rentals. Check the rental’s actual viewing terms instead of assuming every transaction has the same window.

For a movie obtained elsewhere, Movies Anywhere connects participating digital-retailer accounts into a shared collection. Its terms limit that sharing to eligible movies and retailer availability. Compare the title in the original retailer, Movies Anywhere, and Fandango at Home; a missing import does not necessarily mean the original purchase is gone.

  • Check the account connected to Movies Anywhere before disconnecting anything.
  • Compare the exact movie edition, not just a similar title or bundle name.
  • Send the purchase receipt and the affected library names to official support.

Your Vudu login or library seems to have disappeared

Fandango’s official rebrand announcement says the change from Vudu retained customers’ libraries and existing usernames and passwords. The new name was not an instruction to repurchase your collection or open an empty replacement account.

Check the email on an old purchase receipt against the account you are using now. Use recovery options on the official Fandango at Home site if necessary. If you can sign in but the collection looks wrong, document that account mismatch separately from a video that refuses to play.

  • Start with the account attached to your historical receipts.
  • Keep the receipt or order identifier ready when contacting official support.
  • Do not expose passwords, full payment details or recovery codes in screenshots.

Check the connection on the device you are using

Open What is my IP?, select Save as before, connect your intended VPN route and select Check again. Keep the same browser and compare the IPv4 and estimated country. Then test the actual player.

A different IPv4 confirms a change for that browser request. Selective routing can send the player and checker along different paths; a laptop result does not verify a TV app. This tool does not test IPv6, certify residential status, or establish which titles your account can watch.

If nothing changes, follow the unchanged-IP checklist. If the estimated country is unexpected, see IP location checks.

Quick questions

Did the Vudu rebrand remove my purchased library?

Fandango’s announcement says the rebrand retained the library and existing login. If your collection appears empty, verify the account using a past receipt and contact official support before creating a replacement account or repurchasing titles.

Can a different connection restore an expired rental or missing import?

A network comparison can help investigate playback, but it does not establish a new rental entitlement or connect the correct retailer account. Check the rental terms or linked-library evidence first, according to which item is missing.
