The quick answer
Identify the country and subscription provider, then test a second episode in the same app. Check missing content separately from a video error, and use the correct sign-in route for direct or partner access.

1. Check which discovery+ service your account belongs to
Canada changed on February 17, 2026. Warner Bros. Discovery ended its Canadian service; Rogers Sports & Media now operates a new discovery+ website and app. Existing customers should follow the official Canadian transition notice for their billing provider. Repeatedly changing servers cannot migrate an old account to the new service.
For other location messages, record the country where the subscription was created, your current location and the exact app. Ask discovery+ support which access rules apply. When a normal connection is supported, compare the same episode with the VPN disconnected and connected. An unsupported ordinary connection is not evidence of a VPN fault.
- Do not assume that a discovery+ account or app from another country is interchangeable with the US version.
- Keep a location rejection separate from a sign-in or subscription prompt.
2. Separate an app failure from one unavailable video
If the app crashes or will not open, discovery+ recommends closing it, clearing the appropriate app data or cache, then reopening and retrying. Its loading checklist asks for the affected episode, device and app version when the problem continues. Clearing data may require signing in again, so confirm your credentials first.
A “Video not available” message is also covered by a dedicated player checklist; it is not by itself a diagnosis of VPN detection. Note whether the failure starts during an advertisement, at a repeatable timestamp or before any video appears. Try another episode without changing the account or device.
- If one episode fails and another plays, report the exact episode and playback point.
- If the whole app fails, compare another supported device before repeatedly switching servers.
3. Check the catalogue and the discontinued Channels feature
discovery+ says its former in-app discovery+ Channels offer has been discontinued. It directs viewers to search for shows instead. This is a product change, not a channel that a new IP restores. Read the Channels notice; the name should not be confused with a subscription sold through Prime Video Channels.
For an individual programme, search by the show name or browse its brand in the app. Check the season and episode rather than relying only on My List. discovery+ notes that catalogue availability can change in its library guide. A saved shortcut does not establish that an episode is currently playable.
- Compare the same missing episode in the subscription platform where you normally watch.
- Give support the full title, season, episode and country if it remains absent.
4. Match the login to the subscription provider
The current sign-in guide says subscriptions through Prime Video Channels, The Roku Channel, DIRECTV, DISH and Sling are watched in the app where they were purchased. For direct discovery+ access, the guide offers a one-time email code as well as password recovery. Check the account email and its spam folders before creating another account.
Partner activation can be different: Philo documents discovery+ access through its Bundle+ plan and provides an activation process for the separate discovery+ app. Use Philo’s partner instructions if that is your subscription route. Do not generalize one provider’s login rule to every bundle.
- Complete an included-benefit activation before starting a new paid subscription.
- An active network connection cannot correct a cancelled account or the wrong subscription email.
Check the connection on the device you are using
Open What is my IP?, select Save as before, connect your intended VPN route and select Check again. Keep the same browser and compare the IPv4 and estimated country. Then test the actual player.
A different IPv4 confirms a change for that browser request. Selective routing can send the player and checker along different paths; a laptop result does not verify a TV app. This tool does not test IPv6, certify residential status, or establish which titles your account can watch.
If nothing changes, follow the unchanged-IP checklist. If the estimated country is unexpected, see IP location checks.

Quick questions
Did discovery+ shut down everywhere in 2026?
No. The notice concerns Warner Bros. Discovery’s Canadian service and the replacement operated by Rogers. Check the service and billing provider on your own account.
Why did the discovery+ Channels row disappear?
The former in-app Channels offer was discontinued. Search the programme library. That change is separate from buying discovery+ through a platform such as Prime Video Channels.
