The quick answer
Choose DNS on the LG TV for one screen, or router DNS for home devices that use the router’s settings. Confirm the streaming app supports your LG model, register your home connection with your emailed USip credentials and use the current DNS values in the setup wizard. Allow 15 minutes, then verify playback in the actual app.
1. Find your LG model and installed webOS version
Record the full model name and the installed webOS version rather than relying only on an OLED or QNED series name. LG’s model-information guide describes pressing Mute three times to display model and webOS information on supported layouts. The back-panel label also identifies the model.
For a menu-based check, open TV Information using your model’s settings. LG documents different information-menu paths by generation: newer layouts place it under Support, while some webOS 6.0/22 models use General → Devices → TV Management. Keep the current on-TV User Guide available when a screen differs.

2. Check the app in LG's store for your model and region
Search the television’s Apps or LG Content Store for your intended service. LG’s Content Store instructions cover signing into an LG account, searching and installing. The store’s appearance can differ with webOS, so use the controls shown on your TV.
Before selecting a connection plan, use LG’s app-availability guidance to check the model and region combination. A service shown on another LG television is not sufficient evidence that your generation supports it.
DNS configures the connection; it does not install a missing app, upgrade webOS or change what your streaming account includes. Keep the LG account, streaming-service login and USip credentials separate. If the app is unavailable, confirm an appropriate device option before subscribing.
3. Decide where to apply the DNS configuration
Set DNS on the LG when you want to configure that television and can access its network controls. Start by noting whether it currently uses Wi-Fi or Ethernet; edit the active connection rather than a connection you are not using.
Choose router DNS when several home screens should share the setup. Devices must use the DNS supplied by that router; a manual TV setting can override it. This can also be a useful alternative when the TV’s own network editor does not match the documented route.

4. Register the home connection after subscribing
Your USip account email supplies the credentials and existing setup instructions. Open the DNS wizard on a phone or computer connected through the same home router as the LG TV. A phone using cellular data represents a different internet connection.
Use the emailed USip login in the registration step and confirm success before proceeding. This associates the current home public IP with your access; it is separate from signing into the TV or a streaming app.
Then open the USip LG instructions. Some illustrated menus reflect older LG layouts. Use the current manufacturer paths below to locate equivalent DNS controls, while taking the actual service values from USip.
5. Match the DNS menu to your webOS layout
LG’s manual DNS guide groups the starting menus as follows. Check the installed version and screen labels on your own television.
- webOS 6.0 and later (LG’s 2021+ group): All Settings → General → Network.
- webOS 5.0 (2020): All Settings → Connection → Network Connection Settings.
- webOS 4.5 (2019): All Settings → Connection.
- webOS 4.0 and earlier (2018 or earlier): All Settings → Network.
Choose Wired Connection (Ethernet) for cable or Wi-Fi Connection for wireless. LG directs wired users to Edit and wireless users to Advanced Wi-Fi Settings, where DNS can be edited. Select Connect after applying the intended configuration.
If your editor includes Set Automatically, consult the model’s manual before clearing it. LG’s network-editor example shows that manual editing can expose the local IP, subnet and gateway as well as DNS. Record those values and preserve the valid network configuration; do not replace them with numbers from another household’s example. Ask support if the required addressing is unclear.
Use the current DNS value and field instructions from USip’s wizard, not the public-resolver example in LG’s general article. Save, confirm the values remain applied and allow 15 minutes.
6. Test the LG app and keep registration current
After the activation wait, reopen the streaming app and play the programme or live channel you intend to watch. Loading the app’s catalogue or seeing a successful network-connection indicator is not the same as playing video. Test on the LG itself, not only on the phone used for registration.
A general IP lookup reports the route taken by that lookup. With selective DNS routing, it can still show your ordinary connection; neither that result nor a US label alone proves whether the streaming app works.
If a router restart or ISP change gives your home a different public IP, repeat registration. USip’s completion guidance highlights this maintenance step. Recheck registration before changing multiple TV settings, especially if playback previously worked.
7. Continue with your service or troubleshoot the result
If the app remains unavailable or playback fails, note the LG model, webOS version, active connection, registration result and exact error. Use Smart DNS troubleshooting to distinguish a DNS issue from an app, network or account problem.

Can DNS fix an app missing from the LG Content Store?
DNS does not install apps or establish model compatibility. LG app availability depends on the model and region. Check the service in LG’s store and confirm its supported devices first.
Do Wi-Fi and Ethernet use the same DNS setup screen?
They have separate connection entries. Use the active one: LG’s guide points to Edit for wired connections and Advanced Wi-Fi Settings for wireless. If you change connection type later, recheck the applicable settings.
